Nothing like a few predictions to kick off the new year.
As you already know, AI has been the topic of discussion for some time now and as January comes to a close, let’s delve into our predictions for AI and AI-powered technologies in 2025.
No surprises here. Discussions about AI are going to be unavoidable, but organisations will demand clear value, use cases, and benefits which will likely lead to some of the AI hype (particularly for GenAI) subsiding.
We have seen an appetite for things like GenAI applications, with companies joining the hype due to fear of missing out. However, companies have also faced significant backlash where they struggled to find real use cases and productivity gains. As customers are learning more and experiencing the benefits of AI-powered solutions, it means that they will become more selective.
Data privacy and security will remain a top concern. We are also likely to see more stringent regulations implemented and a focus on data sovereignty, as well as sovereign AI. There will be a need for new innovative technologies to safeguard sensitive information and counteract emerging threats.
A heightened focus on ethical and responsible AI is imminent.
We have seen and met several organisations at various events, across different geographies, from the UK to North America and the GCC region, who increasingly raise concerns about the relaxed attitude (or even lack of transparency) of some AI solution providers when it comes to how they deploy, use, and train their AI solutions. It will no longer be acceptable to put the AI label on a product and expect a customer to buy it just because it says AI—AI solution providers will have to demonstrate that their products are not just secure, but also private and ethical-by-design.
Increased focus in AI security, in relation to both AI security solutions and the security of AI-powered solutions themselves is expected.
As the AI landscape continues to evolve, this will likely lead to new threats emerging, powered by the exact same technologies that underpin AI applications in the business and consumer worlds. New AI-powered solutions will be needed to address these new threats and ensuring they are built securely will be essential.
